Estepona launches brand new pedestrian walkway!
Estepona launches it’s brand new pedestrian walkway! A few months ago Estepona’s Mare Jose Maria Garcia Urbano made the decision to close one of the main roads on the seafront of Estepona. A decision that didn’t go down too well with residents as it meant longer journeys and detours in order to get from one side of Estepona to the other. The Councils main goal is to take Estepona into the future by creating a more innovative and environmentally friendly city. Decreasing traffic and increasing the use of local transport, bikes and e-scooters. The inauguration of this new walkway was truly amazing and both visitors and residents alike have taken to it already! With stunning flowerbeds and palm trees, it’s a pleasure to enjoy with the Mediterranean sea in the background.
The next phase is already underway and it will involve pedestrianising the Avenida de España from Calle Delfin to the Avenida Juan Carlos I. This second stretch will connect to the new one that has already been completed. It will also connect on its west side to the new remodelled fisherman’s area that is already under construction (this area will boast a large modern library and museum, entertainment area and green areas). Estepona will be more popular than ever before!. We can’t wait!!
